The Animal Kingdom (1932) Comedy, Drama, Romance Movie DVD
1h 25min | Comedy, Drama, Romance | Approved

Based on a play by Philip Barry, this sophisticated comedy is about a man trying to justify his love for both his wife and his mistress.

This DVD of the 1932 Comedy, Drama, Romance movie The Animal Kingdom has been digitally re-mastered to maintain the original retro/classic scratched look and feel of the original movie that was so common at the time of its creation.

Directors: Edward H. Griffith, George Cukor
Writer: Horace Jackson, Philip Barry, Edward H. Griffith
Stars: Ann Harding, Leslie Howard, Myrna Loy

Tom Collier has had a great relationship with Daisy, but when he decides to marry, it is not Daisy whom he asks, it is Cecelia. After the marriage, Tom is bored with the social scene and the obligations of his life.

He publishes books that will sell, not books that he wants to write. Even worse, he has his old friend working as a butler and Cecelia wants him fired. When Tom tries to get back together with Daisy to renew the feelings that he once felt, Daisy turns the tables on him and leaves to protect both of them.

Trivia

This film was considered lost for many years. In the early 1980's, film historian Ronald Haver was searching for missing material for the restoration of A STAR IS BORN (1954) when he came across a long forgotten print and negative in the Warner Bros. vaults. The studio had purchased the remake rights for THE ANIMAL KINGDOM from RKO sometime in the mid-1940's and due to unreliable book-keeping misplaced the print and negative in their vaults.
