![]() The Ghost Train (1941) Horror, Comedy Movie DVD 1h 20min | Horror, Comedy | Not Rated High jinks and chills ensue when a group of people become stranded at an isolated station and a legendary phantom train approaches. This DVD of the 1941 Horror, Comedy movie The Ghost Train has been digitally re-mastered to maintain the original retro/classic scratched look and feel of the original movie that was so common at the time of its creation. Director: Walter Forde Writer: Arnold Ridley, J.O.C. Orton, Val Guest Stars: Arthur Askey, Richard Murdoch, Kathleen Harrison Mismatched travelers are stranded overnight at a lonely rural railway station. They soon learn of local superstition about a phantom train which is said to travel these parts at dead of night, carrying ghosts from a long-ago train wreck in the area. The travelers eventually get to the bottom of the things that go bump in the night. In between the scary bits, comedian Arthur Askey plays the gags with his Vaudeville style humor, to the constant irritation of his fellow passengers. Trivia Writer Arnold Ridley came up with the idea for this story whilst standing on the platform of Mangotsfield Station near Bristol. The station is surrounded on three sides by tracks, and there was an earth bank opposite him which reflected the sounds of trains coming along the track on the other side of the station, making it sound like a train was coming that would never arrive.
